Our Auction procedures for buyers and sellers have changed, so please read the following information carefully if you plan to participate.
The Seller premium is being reduced to 10%, and we have introduced a 10% premium for Buyers.
The deadline to submit items for auction is 5 pm Friday night.
- Online registration: Auction items are submitted online here until Registration opens on Thursday morning at 9 am.
- Paper registration: Blank forms are available here and can be submitted at the Gathering. Blank forms will also be available at the NEMCA booth in the Dealers Room.
AUCTION GUIDELINES
As always, NEMCA would like to offer only true collectibles at the Auction. Damaged, incomplete, and reproduced items, unless of a rare or limited nature, would not qualify as items for the Auction. It is at NEMCA’s discretion to reject any items that do not meet these criteria.
Lots will be presented in the order in which they were received. Priority is given to those who submit electronically. The sooner you submit the item submission form, the earlier your items reach the auction block.
GENERAL
1) Sellers will submit their items in groups of five (5). Multiple groups of five may be submitted.
2) Buyers will have an opportunity to view the items up for auction during the Preview period. Additionally, selected items will be promoted online ahead of the Gathering.
3) The Live Auction will progress starting with the first seller. Once all Sellers have had at least one group of 5 offered, the Auctioneer will then cycle back to Seller #1’s second group of 5 and so on until all lots are exhausted or the time for the Auction has expired.
4) The bidding will start at the specified Reserve price. If the Reserve is not met, it will be at the discretion of the Seller to accept a starting bid lower than the Reserve. If there is no Reserve, the bidding will start at a price determined by the auctioneer.
5) All items must be paid for prior to the successful buyer removing the items from the room. All sold and unsold items must be removed from the auction area following the Auction.
SELLERS
1) Again, the deadline for submitting auction items is 5 PM Friday.
2) The Auctioneer will do his best to get to as many groups as possible. It is recommended that sellers place their highest-priority items on their first form submitted.
3) Guidelines for submissions:
- No single item in the Auction should have a value of less than $25.
- Sellers may combine items into a larger lot valued at $50 or more, but no item in the lot should be valued at less than $25.
- Items of lesser value or those not meeting the stated criteria of the Auction should be sold outside of the Auction.
4) Items of reasonable value may have a Reserve. If you have a question regarding appropriate reserve pricing, you should contact the auctioneer prior to the start of the auction.
5) Sellers should bring their items for Auction to the ballroom after the last Saturday morning lecture (NOON to 1 pm).
6) Sellers will receive their funds from the Auction after all bidders have paid their invoices.
7) NO ITEMS THAT HAVE BEEN DISPLAYED IN THE DEALER ROOM OR FLEA MARKET WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE AUCTION.
8) Photographs of each item submitted must clearly represent the condition of the items.
BUYERS
1) The registration number shown on your badge is your bidder number. Index cards to be used as Bidder Paddles will be available at the back of the room for attendees to complete.
2) All bids are a commitment by the Bidder to pay that amount (plus the buyer premium) should it be the highest bid on the item and accepted by the Seller.
3) All won items must be paid for first and then removed from the auction room after the close of the Auction.
4) Payment can be made with cash, personal check, or credit card.
